The UAE government has joined hands with the Arab Federation for Food Industries and AR Group to roll out an ambitious initiative to support food security in the Arab world and address the famine in the African Horn, according to Trade Arabia News Service. Citing the state news agency WAM, the report said, the Gulf state has hooked up with the Union Cooperative Society supermarket chain to cut prices on two varieties of rice and Arabic bread. The reduction would run from April 1 to the end of the year. Last year Korean firms won projects worth $25 billion in the UAE, mainly in the oil and gas, petrochemicals and construction sectors. The most important contract was the Korean Government-owned Kepco winning the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation.
