The head of Beef + Lamb New Zealand Mike Petersen says his annual visit to Europe to shore up the country’s main export meat market is even more important this year, with an expected shortfall in lamb available for export. A global lamb shortage equivalent to three-quarters of New Zealand’s production is looming, but the continued erosion of NZ sheep flock means the country is not in a position to satisfy that demand, according to the Otago Daily Times.
