Qantas has moved to tap into the huge market for cheaper airfares in China through the creation of a new joint venture, Jetstar Hong Kong, according to a report in the NZ Herald citing AAP. World leading airline pilot training provider, CTC Aviation Group plc (CTC), has gained approval by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to train airline pilots for the country’s airlines. Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) is to launch a low-cost carrier by next year to compete with competitors already taking chunks out of its premium market, and to stand up against Australia’s budget carrier JetStar, which is planning long-hauls to Europe.
