Transparency International New Zealand has announced the release of “New Zealand Exporters’ Experiences with Bribery and Corruption, A Qualitative Survey.” This report, commissioned from UMR Research by Transparency International New Zealand (TINZ), gives an insight into some New Zealand exporters’ experiences and perceptions of corruption in overseas markets.

New Zealand has the potential to capture $1.3 trillion more in agricultural exports between now and 2050 if targeted actions are taken, according to a new report released by ANZ.

A2 Corporation Limited (A2C) has advanced the launch of a2™ brand milk powders and infant formula in China in 2013 with the appointment of an in-market Chinese distribution partner.

The China Navigation Company – more familiarly “CNCo”, the deep-sea shipping arm of the Swire group – is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year. CNCo was founded in 1872 to operate Mississippi-style paddle steamers on China’s Yangtze River and has enjoyed a long history in New Zealand with the first call dating back to 1883.  

New Zealand’s most wind-resistant outdoor umbrella range has taken the global market by storm with exports to 35 countries. The newest product, which was designed locally and tested by scientists at the University of Auckland in the country’s strongest wind tunnel was able to withstand wind speeds of up to 40km/ph.

China offers huge opportunities for New Zealand businesses, but too few are taking the plunge and entering the market, says Auckland Chamber of Commerce chief executive Michael Barnett. “By 2020 China will be the world’s largest economy and while it’s already New Zealand’s second largest trading partner, there is scope for far more benefit for New Zealand business,” Barnett said. Auckland Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with NZ INC Ltd, held the inaugural China Business Summit in Auckland recently. 

DHL Express is calling for emerging fashion exporters to enter the fifth annual DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship.

Designed to identify the country’s hottest up-and-coming fashion exporter and assist them in achieving international growth, the scholarship is open to New Zealand designers who have been exporting for less than four years.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is welcoming the launch of the Catapult Programme, an initiative that will see budding Kiwi entrepreneurs given the opportunity to fast track their ideas into United States markets.
