Quick on the heels of Google’s launch of its latest social-networking venture, Facebook said today that its 750 million users will now be able to make video calls on the site, according to NZ Herald’s online report. The proposed acquisition reportedly fell through amid hesitation by Groupon’s founders. The start-up will decide next year whether to sell shares in a float instead, a source said. The discussions could resume if both sides overcome their differences. Google Inc said users of Gmail will now be able to call telephones directly from their email, putting it in direct competition with Web calling service Skype and companies such as AT&T Inc, according to GulfNews.com. Google has pulled back another curtain and revealed the size of its lucrative internet ad network in the US. It spans more than 1.5 million advertisers and websites, according to the NZ Herald, citing an Associateed Press (AP). Google is introducing a software that puts web content on television to persuade more consumers to use the internet in their living rooms and view advertisements that generate revenue, according to GulfNews.com.
The new tool, Google TV, will work with Intel chips in products by Sony and Logitech International.
