In the first quarter of 2010, China’s exports grew almost 29% year-on-year to $316.17 billion, while imports surged nearly 65% to $301.7 billion. During the first quarter of this year, China’s trade surplus was $14.5 billion, around 77% lower than that of the first quarter of 2009. Taiwan is eager to talk about items that are either on the zero-tariff list of the free trade agreement between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), or that are major exports of Taiwan. China will be holding its 107th China Export Commodities Fair (CECF) which will feature 1.12 million square meters of exhibitions and 56,000 exhibitors. The fair will be held from April 15 to May 5 in Guangzhou. NZ Customs Service and China Customs explored the possibility of paperless trading between the two countries at a recent meeting as part of discussions to implement the New Zealand-China Free-Trade Agreement (FTA). China will use robots to help answer visitor queries at Shanghai’s two international airports and at the entrances of some of the major venues within the Shanghai World Expo.
