In New Zealand, she had a three-year stint writing for the Entrepreneurial column of the Business Herald before moving offshore as a trailing spouse. She was also formerly a Personal Finance Editor for the Singapore Business Times and a Senior Correspondent for global news company Reuters.Most recently, she worked in a global consulting company as a Knowledge Manager, developing strategic content for the company’s internal and external websites, as well as developing internal communication. Dionne Christian Dionne Christian has been writing for 20 years and has contributed to magazines and newspapers throughout her career.She was a freelance feature writer for NZ’s largest-selling weekly, TV Guide, and also a senior editor at Auckland Suburban Newspapers Ltd, published by Fairfax NZ (formerly published by INL and owned by News Corp).She is now studying part-time for a Master’s in history at the University of Auckland. She has a two-year-old daughter, Imogen. Charles Chan Malaysian-born KY Chan is a veteran journalist with over 30 years of newspaper background in Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand.He has held various senior posts including news editor at The Business Times and The Star in Malaysia and as senior sub-editor at The Sun and National Business Review in Auckland.He recently relinquished his post as editor of i-Ball, an English-language newspaper for Asians, due to a change in ownership.He now toggles between playing golf, freelance writing, ballroom dancing and part-time acting for commercials. In New Zealand this includes several years with the infamous national, weekly business publication, the Independent, the Sunday Star Times and National Radio, where her rounds included trade and exports. Since going freelance in 2004, Lesley has worked for a variety of publications including Unlimited, Marketing, B-Innovative (the Auckland Chamber of Commerce magazine) and the University of Auckland’s Business Review.Prior to New Zealand, Lesley spent ten years in London in corporate and financial PR so has an understanding of the business world from both sides of the fence. Virginia McMillan virginia@exportermagazine.co.nzVirginia is a Wellington-based freelance journalist specialising in business and health stories. She was assistant editor of The Independent Financial Review for two years, and was a reporter and sub-editor on its predecessor, The Independent Business Weekly.Virginia has also been a sub-editor at The Sunday Star-Times, a journalism lecturer, and a community newspaper editor. In the 1980s, she spent four years in London writing freelance while being a busy mum, tourist and secretarial temp. She began her journalism career more than 20 years ago as a reporter for The Chronicle, Levin. Simon Hendery simon@exportermagazine.co.nzSimon Hendery is a freelance business journalist with more than 10 years experience in journalism and corporate communications, including seven years as a staff writer for the New Zealand Herald.Simon specializes in covering the technology sector and the wine industry. He continues to write regularly for the NZ Herald’s business section, and has edited the paper’s IT and marketing sections. He lives in Napier with his partner and two pre-school daughters. Louise Blockley louise@exportermagazine.co.nzLouise Blockley is a student at AUT University. She is studying towards a Bachelor of Communications degree in Journalism.Louise has spent years in the travel industry and in advertising sales for the publishing industry. She has worked for the New Zealand Herald and New Zealand News UK, London in advertising sales. She lives in Auckland when she is not busy satisfying her travel bug at various locations with her husband and two children. |
