Chinese logistics firm makes exporting easier with NZ office — Exporter Magazine
Exporting to sell on NZ Pure Shop in China will be made easier after a leading Chinese logistics company announced it will open an Auckland office.
The announcement was made at the launch on Friday 7th June of NZ Pure Shop, an e-commerce platform selling New Zealand-made products via Tmall.com, China’s leading B2C shopping destination for quality, brand-name goods.
NZ Pure Shop’s local agent is NZ Inc Shop; both of which have been set up by Plaxo Capital. In front of about 90 exporters and business advisors, Plaxo Capital CEO, York Zhang, signed an MOU with Viola Ren from Shanghai Wai’gao’qiao Xi’bei Bonded Logistics Co. Ltd, a logistics company with a bonded warehouse in China.
The company will work with clients selling through NZ Pure Shop. Minister of Trade, Hon Tim Groser; Dr Jiang Yang, MP; and Director of NZ Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Michael Barnett also witnessed the signing.
NZ Inc Shop Chairman, Aldo Miccio says the MOU paves the way for an easier route for NZ products through NZ Pure Shop.
“Businesses can always attempt to export to China themselves, but China’s regulations and processes can be extremely complicated,” Miccio says. “We are trying to make it easier for New Zealand exporters by providing a trusted e-commerce platform visible to 180 million Chinese consumers, and partnering with established logistics partners, such as Shanghai Wai’gao’qiao Xi’bei Bonded Logistics Co Ltd.”
At the launch Hon Tim Groser talked about the massive opportunity for New Zealand in China and the importance of e-commerce for New Zealand’s products.
“Trade with China has tripled since the signing of the FTA, and now the big change for trade in China is in the form of the Internet,“ he says. “E-commerce is the future of international trade in the 21st Century. I congratulate NZ Pure Shop and wish them every success.”
The Minister added that we should not underestimate how astonishingly powerful the New Zealand brand is in China.
“We have to protect our brand and deal with it carefully and with respect,” Groser says. “It is an essential platform for everything we do, as we need to take it with us into the future.”
Aldo Miccio agrees about the importance of retaining our brand integrity. “All New Zealand businesses and organisations have a collective responsibility to uphold the brand values of our country,” Miccio says. “For our part, NZ Pure Shop on Tmall.com is only for verified Kiwi-made products, and we have worked hard to ensure that from its launch, NZ Pure Shop reinforces the strong environmental, quality and lifestyle brand values that our country has.
“We will also be looking to introduce more indigenous products to NZ Pure Shop,” he says. “We see Maori culture and products as an integral part of reinforcing New Zealand’s brand for Chinese consumers.
“We are also acutely aware of our role in protecting the New Zealand brand, and that is why we are aligning with the most trusted e-commerce platform in China, and with established strategic partners in China.”
